Below, is a very clear news photo shared with us by friend of dmairfield.org Tim Kalina. We find (left to right) Capt. Carl B. (Browne) Squier, general manager of the Lockheed Aircraft Corp, Burbank, CA; Sir Chas. Kingsford Smith, noted flyer; and Fred G. Davies, executive of the General Petroleum Corp. The image is dated May 19, 1934 and the men are on board the liner Monterey, which had just arrived from Australia.

Squier is our person of interest. He landed at Tucson as a passenger December 18, 1930 in Ryan NC314K flown by Dean Farran. 

Carl B. Squier was born in 1893 and died in 1967. He was the thirteenth licensed pilot in America, holder of the Criox de Guerre, co-founder of Lockheed Aircraft, and known as the world's greatest airplane salesman. He sold planes to Lindbergh, Earhart, Post and Gatty.
