ALEXANDER EAGLEROCK A-1, NC6846

This airplane was manufactured during early 1928 by the Alexander Aircraft Co., Colorado Springs, CO. It was a three-place airplane, serial number 569. It left the factory with a Wright engine (J-4, serial number unidentified) of 220HP. It sold initiall to William A. Naff of Durango, CO.

This robust airplane landed first at Tucson Thursday, July 19, 1928. It was flown by A.E. Cameron, with Lee Willey as passenger. You can see a news article describing the transfer of this new airplane to Cameron and its ferry flight to California on Willey's page here. According to the article, Cameron was manager of the Motor Rim and Wheel service of California (see below), whose address used to be, "2860 East Pico Blvd., Los Angeles, 23, Calif."

They were westbound from Colorado Springs, CO in this brand new airplane. For some reason (weather?) they remained in Tucson until the following Wednesday, July 25, 1928. Cameron noted in the Remarks column of the Register, "Ferry". The airplane was C/N 569, an A-1 model with a Wright J-4 engine of 200HP.

The image, above, shows the airplane when it was new. This image is from page 51 of this REFERENCE. NC6846 landed at Tucson a second time over a year later on Friday, October 4, 1929. A.E. Cameron was again the pilot, carrying his wife as passenger. They had arrived at Tucson from Casa Grande, AZ and they were on their way to Douglas, AZ.

Cameron purchased NC6846 on August 11, 1928, just a couple of weeks after he brought it to Tucson. The NASM record recoreds that the registration was cancelled on November 10, 1928. N reason was given for the cancellation.

There is no Google record for Motor Rim and Wheel of California, but the 2009 location at Google Earth appears to be an industrial neighborhood, below.
