VOUGHT SU-2 A-9103

COVER GIRL

Vought A-9103 landed at Tucson once. It was flown solo by Marine 2nd Lt. W.A. Willis. He landed and signed the Register Monday, September 12, 1932 enroute west from Quantico, VA to San Diego, CA. Joe Baugher's site identifies aircraft bureau numbers A-9077 through 9121 as Vought SU-2s.

This airplane is memorialized on the cover of this REFERENCE. We see it as the airplane in the foreground. The credit given for the image is as follows: "FRONT COVER: Three SU-2 aircraft of Squadron VO-8M flying over San Diego in 1933 . (Marine Corps Photo 530122) ."

In the image, we see A-9103 just months after it landed at Tucson. The numbers of the other two aircraft in the background are unreadable. The pilots are unidentified.
